Freya and Ayame stayed in touch when they were worlds separated. Each learning each other's language and writing each other letters and mails. And they never stopped doing that. They could keep on talking to each other. So many interesting stuff to learn about each other's culture. They told each other everything.

"Freya! Get down here for a second!"

She changes a look of surprise with Nick and lowers her defense. It's strange for her mother to interrupt when they are fighting upstairs.

"Sorry."

Nick shakes his head. "No problem. Mind if I join you downstairs? I could use some more water. The bottle up here is empty already."

Freya laughs. "Of course not. Come on."

Together they walk down the stairs, both taking off the boxing gloves they were wearing.

"You know. You've got a mean left swing. For someone who is right-handed..."

Freya laughs. "Well, your right swing is pretty vicious as well. For someone who is left-handed."

It earns her a gentle push against her shoulder before she walks over to her mother and Nick disappears into the kitchen.

"You've got mail."

Surprised Freya looks at the box her mother holds out for her. Of course she notices the mysterious smile. Her eyes open wide when she sees the Japanese characters drawn over the box. "It's from Ayame?"

It's not really a question. Smiling she sets herself on the couch, carefully opening the box. A happy chuckle leaves her lips. She takes out a folded paper lantern. It makes her mother laugh as well.

Freya carefully opens the lantern, turning around when she hears Nick walking into the living room. "Ayame send me a paper lantern."

There is a non-understanding look on his face.

"Next week is an important festival in Japan. It's tradition to light on a lantern and let it fly away. So, this way I can light a lantern, just like them."

Nick nods, handing her a bottle of water. She gratefully accepts it.

"So, how is it going up there?"

Her daughter nods. "Good. We just finished warming up."

The look on her mother's face makes them laugh.

"We didn't train our kata yet. We just did some boxing. It has been ages ago, and well..."

The look of innocence on Nick's face makes Frey roll her eyes.

"Yeah, well, you want to start training our kata?"

He nods and they go back upstairs. Freya carefully holding the paper lantern in her hands. Still beaming.
