Sulphur 8, Harvest Gold 2, Russet 1: Not So Bad

Author: Kat
Title: Not So Bad
Story: In the Heart
Colors: Sulphur 8 (Seduction), harvest gold 2 (back to school), russet 1 (coarse).
Supplies and Materials: Tapestry, charcoal (Riker), miniature, canvas, bichromatic, glitter ("We all have to decide for ourselves how much sin we can live with." – Nucky Thompson from Boardwalk Empire), pastels (habits and routines), photography.
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG-13.
Summary: Riker's not so bad.
Warnings: none.
Notes: He really isn't, apart from the whole drug dealer thing.

Riker's not so bad, not really. So he sells drugs-- who the hell wouldn't, broke in this town? The only other jobs are fast food slave or gardener, and Riker would be awful at flipping burgers. As for gardening, he usually prefers to grow something a little different.

Danny's not so bad either. Sure, she's reckless and pissed at the world, but Riker doesn't mind, not with a body like hers. Some weed, some coke, a laugh, and she's his, smoking hot behind the gym on a sultry fall day.

It's not forever. Nothing is. But it's not so bad.

Aw, man. Yeah, I can see where Danny and Riker can get along, even if it's not going to last, and even if they both seem of dubious character here. Still, at least they've walked in knowing what might go down, so there's that.

Excellent use of the back-to-school prompt!

It does make sense, broken down like that. I particularly like the last like of the second paragraph, I think it works really well.

Comparatively speaking, he actually sounds not so bad.

Selfish and misguided perhaps, but considering my cast? I just don't feel right calling him out on his career choice.

Perhaps it's more sad in the end, that he's set himself up for quite a downfall.
