Some people are surprised that Kes has never been jealous of Taz, never resented spending years in her shadow, waiting for her own time to shine.

Kes ignores those people. They clearly don't understand her or Taz; can't fathom the idea that she would be proud of her sister, point to her as the most fantastic Captain their Clan has seen in years, despite their low-ranked bloodline.

Besides, Kes has her own talents; if she hadn't wanted to stand beside her sister and serve as her second-in-command, there were other Captains interested in taking her on. She was here because she wanted to be, because her own ambitions--and of course she had them--had led her here.

There's simply no godsdamned room for jealousy when she and Taz had a world to take by storm.

Some people are surprised that Taz turns to Kes as much as she does, that she isn't too pigheaded proud to admit to asking her Unthreaded little sister's advice, and heeding it more often than not.

Taz ignores those people. If they assume she brought Kes with her out of loyalty alone, they're idiots who don't understand her or Kes, who can't fathom the idea that her sister is at least as excellent and talented as she is--if not more--and Taz not only knows it, she will shout it out for anyone to hear.

Taz may be flashy and arrogant, she may crave the center of attention the way flowers crave fresh water and sunlight, and she may have earned every single inch of it, but she knows her sister and her talents have helped her get there. She's sure as hell not going to ignore that or pretend it isn't real.

There's simply no godsdamned room for pigheaded pride when she and Kes brew the best storms together.
