The hallways are quiet.
No light shines through the paper.
My heart already whispers, it will be morning soon.
It leaps like a dog eager to be let out of the pen;
I tell it to be quiet and to be patient.

My lover is asleep on my arm.
The day will wait, and the day after, too.
My heart barks: There is much to do.
Much to touch and say, and see;
and I miss my lover's smile.
