Mariko shifted from foot to foot next to Teri, trying to talk herself out of being nervous. Sure, crashing this guy’s party was a terrible idea, but, to be fair, about ninety percent of what she and Teri did together was a terrible idea. And they usually had a hell of a time doing it. Tonight wasn’t gonna be any different.

“So, who’s this guy again?” she asked in an undertone.

“Friend of a friend of my cousin’s cousin,” Teri said. “Relax, he’s loaded and it’s not like they’re checking IDs against a guest list or whatever.”

Mariko rolled her eyes. “I am relaxed.”

Teri kissed her cheek. “Love you, babe, but you’re really not. Come on, we’ll steal some stupid expensive champagne and go skinny dipping in the backyard. Everyone’ll be too trashed to notice.”

Okay, that was an even more terrible idea, but Mariko would be lying if she said the idea didn’t thrill her, just a little bit. “Let’s start with the champagne,” she said. “Then see where the night takes us.”

Teri threw back her head and laughed. “I like the sound of that.” She leaned in for another kiss, and this time Mariko didn’t let her get away with just a cheek.

She still thought this whole gate-crashing plan was going to blow up spectacularly in their faces, but she had a feeling that the whole thing would be worth it when it did.

Apparently not THAT terrible an idea. I hope they have fun!
