Biting her lip she sees the ground coming closer, the magazine lying closed on her lap. Her pen still in her hand. She has been scribbling. Some notes. Some storylines. Some quotes. Pieces of conversations. Settings. Things she thought about while flying for the past hour. The words are running all over the blank spots of the magazine. Her own story running along with the ones in the magazine.
She smiles when the plane finally hits the ground. Looking aside she sees her friends sitting there, both watching outside as well. Her two best friends. Susan and Emily. Just back from a trip to London. It was great and it was fun and she had a really wonderful time. But honestly, she can’t say she’s sorry to be back home already. Sure, she’s a little bit sad to leave London behind, but now she’ll finally see her boyfriend again. It’s only been four days, but she sure missed him. Certainly the last day, yesterday. She missed his laugh and the sparks in his eyes when he teases her. Missed his arms around her, his secure embrace. Missed his soft lips on hers and his fingers running through her hair.
“So, when are you going to see him?”
She looks at her watch. Two in the afternoon.
Shrugging she takes her bag and is ready to leave the plane.
“Not sure. Somewhere this evening. Probably after dinner. I doubt he’ll come over for dinner. He said studying isn’t going as well as it should go.”
There’s a little bit of sadness, she had hoped he’d come pick her up at the airport.
“Come on. Let’s go collect out luggage.”
Nodding she follows them. Grins when she remembers the beautiful dress that is packed in her bag. Dark blue and black. She looks gorgeous in it, if she can say so herself. She wonders if Nick will like it…
The wait for the luggage doesn’t last long. It’s a small airport after all. They have their bags in less than ten minutes. Chattering they leave, stepping through the double doors, exiting the building. They are laughing and giggling and talking all the way. Waving when they see Liam and Simon who are waiting for Susan and Emily. For a second her eyes cloud over. Nobody waiting for her. She had known he wouldn’t be there. He needs all his time for the upcoming exams. But she had dreamed of it, daydreamed of it in the plane. That he would stand there, smiling, waiting, waving. Arms opening when he saw her. And she’d drop her bag and run to him and fling herself in his arms and he’d catch her and smile and laugh and kiss her and swirl her around.
“So, how was the trip?”
It’s all it takes to get the three best friends chattering through one other again. The boys grin and playfully cover their ears. “Not all together, please!” The mock desperation in their voices earns them some punches from the girls who laugh from joy.
-
Sighing she lets her back rest against the front door she just closed behind her. She’s tired. Four days London are great, certainly with your two best friends, but tiresome as well. So much walking. So little sleeping. Freya can’t say she’s sorry she’ll be able to sit on her couch and not having to get up but to open the door for when her pizza arrives. Lazy. But she just doesn’t want to cook for herself this evening.
Opening the door to her storage room, she want some delicious cranberry juice, she frowns when the light doesn’t goes on when she flicks the switch. Groaning she drops her bag onto the ground.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
Slowly she starts massaging her forehead and her temples. Far away a headache starts to build. And a broken light bulb is something she really doesn’t need right now.
She flicks the switch off again. Taking a deep breath. Deciding it will be a worry for tomorrow. When she has slept and feels a little more awake.
-
“Hey sleepy head.”
Blinking she opens her eyes, yawning. A little disoriented she looks around, before focusing on Nick again.
“Hey.”
Her voice a little raspy. It makes her boyfriend smile.
“I think I fell asleep…”
Amused he pulls up his eyebrows. “You think?”
She nods, not really having caught the little note of sarcasm in his voice.
“I haven’t heard you putting your key in the lock. I haven’t heard you open the front doors, or the door to the living room. I haven’t even heard you walking in. Your hand was suddenly on my shoulder and I suddenly heard your voice.”
Smiling he kisses the top of her head. Before she sets herself up straight on her couch, making place so Nick can set himself down next to her. As soon as he sits, she snuggles close to his side. Sighing happily when she feels how he wraps an arm around her shoulders.
“So, how was London?”
Freya hums happily. “It was amazing.”
She starts talking. Talking and laughing the sleep a little bit away again. And Nick listens. They watch her photo’s together. “What do you say? Shall we go to London together next time?”
Freya nods happily and kisses his cheek.
“Wonderful idea!”
Quickly she stands up and walks to her bedroom. Nick questioningly looks at her disappearing back.
She reappears but a couple of seconds later. A dress held out in front of her. “What do you think?”
He looks approvingly. “I think I like it. Will you put it on?”
There is a pondering look on her face. It results in her boyfriend pouting. They are teasing each other. And they know it.
Smiling she hands him the dress before she takes off her t-shirt.
“Ow…”
Winking she bites her lips. Just a little bit trying to seduce him.
Slowly she pulls of her jeans. It makes her feel so special, the way he looks at her now. The hungry look in his eyes.
She holds out her hand for the dress, her fingers lingering a little longer than necessary against his.
“Can you help me with the zipper?”
Turning her back to him, she bends her head forward a little, holding her hair together to one side, so it won’t get stuck in the zipper. The help isn’t necessary, but she wants to feel his hands on her back, on her side.
Gently he kisses her neck, there where she isn’t holding her hair. “Are you still tired?”
Smiling she turns so she faces him. His arms circle around her waist.
She shakes her head. “No, I’m not tired anymore. Are you going to make me?”
Grinning he nods. “Oh yes. I’m going to exhaust you.”
Freya giggles and turns around in his embrace again. Once more holding her hair to one side. “Will you unzip this again then?”
Nick growls deep in his throat. Making Freya bite her lips once again. The dress slides off her shoulders, off her body, to drop on the ground.
Not turning around, she takes his hand in hers. Guiding him to the bedroom. Not planning on letting him go this night.
