Title: Accommodations
Word Count: 674
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Kazu has to make a hard decision on behalf of Tsukino
Warnings: mentions of depression, Tsukino's mother, the beginning of a panic attack, and that's it.
Notes: I think I'm doing pretty good not forgetting about things completely. I have to start on my challenge soon too. Well enjoy!
“No! No! No! I don’t want her here!” Tsukino screamed.
“Honey please, calm down, the baby…” Kazu soothed as he tried to place his arms around Tsukino who knocked them away.
“No! I don’t want my mother here at all!” Tsukino shook her head and took the nearest seat.
Kazu placed his hands on her shoulders and peaked out the room. Saya and Kenji stood outside while Miko and Mina tried to dissolve the situation. The doctor frowned in concern as he looked over to Tsukino.
“I can’t check her until she calms down. I need to see how far her contractions are.”
“I know, I know.” Kenji resisted the urge to glare at the doctor. It wouldn’t help anyone if he got angry while Tsukino was seconds away from a meltdown. He knelt in front of Tsukino and took her hands in his own.
“Tsu-Tsu look at me.”
Tsukino looked up as tears rolled down her cheeks. Kenji felt his heart clench, but pushed on. “If I tell your mom to wait outside will you go through with the ultrasound? It’s important to see the baby and make sure they’re okay.”
“I don’t want her here at all.” Tsukino hissed.
“What if she spent time in the cafeteria would that be alright?”
“She wouldn’t be here?”
“No.”
“Promise?”
Kazu kissed her forehead. “I do.”
“Okay, but you have to make sure she’s not here. I don’t want her here until after the baby is born.”
“I’ll tell her that I promise.”
Tsukino nodded and took a few deep breaths. Kazu kissed her cheek as he rose and the doctor walked over to help Tsukino out of the chair. He knew any extra stress wasn’t good for her or the baby. He squared his shoulders and walked over to Saya and Kenji.
“Can we see her now?” Kenji asked.
“Has she stopped the dramatics yet?” Saya asked.
Kazu saw Miko lead Mina away out the corner of his eye. He counted to ten in his head and didn’t sighed in exasperation. “Tsukino said she doesn’t want you in the room.”
“What? But we came here to see her.” Saya said.
“No, Kenji can come in, I’m afraid she means you.” Kazu pointed to Saya.
Saya paled as her lips formed in a thin line. “What?”
I’m not going to be intimidated. “She said she doesn’t want you in the room and I have to honor my wife’s request.”
Saya glared at him and waved it away.”She doesn’t know what she’s talking about.” She moved towards the door when Kazu stepped in front of her and shook his head. “I’m sorry, but she doesn’t want to see you. She wants you to wait in the cafeteria until she’s finished. She doesn’t want to see you.”
“B-But…I…” Saya started when Kenji cleared his throat. “I’ll make sure to get a picture for you and Miki. They have some amazing things in the cafeteria. I’ll be there after I’m finished.”
“Y-You can’t be serious!” Saya exclaimed.
“Do you want to hurt our grandchild?” Kenji asked.
Saya opened her mouth then closed it just as quickly. “No.”
“Then I’ll see you in a few minutes.” Kenji kissed her cheek and walked inside the room.
“I’m sorry.” Kazu whispered. He walked inside the room and left a dumbfounded Saya outside.
*~*~*
At the table in the cafeteria, Saya bit her lip as the words traveled through her mind.
Tsukino didn’t want her around for the birth of her first grandchild.
She bit her lip harder as her stomach twisted in knots.
She really messed up.
*~*~*
Kazu walked over to Tsukino who reached for him.
“Is she gone?”
“Yeah she’s in the cafeteria like you asked.”
Tsukino smiled and squeezed his hand. “Thank you.”
Kazu grinned and kissed the back of her hand. “Anytime.” He knew he should try to help Tsukino mend her relationship with her mother, but he wanted her to be as comfortable as possible. He just hoped things would clear up after the baby arrived.
