Summary: Tothos has to move.

Her door chimed, a pleasant trill associated with one of three people: Milen, most likely, unless she had involved her uncles. Tothos doubted it.

Milen's silent eyebrow raise collapsed when she sighted the mess in the living room. She stepped inside as Tothos closed the door, neither speaking until the lock whirred.

"Gonna have to move," Milen said.

Tothos stepped back, the carpet squelching beneath her boot. "They ambushed me." She only blinked when Milen grabbed her wrist and yanked it up, glaring at the bloody mess of wires and sinew. Wasn't sure why she still held it.

"Neuro-transmitters? Good. We have time." She uncurled Tothos' fingers. The neuros hit the carpet with a dull thump. "Get anything off them?"

Tothos turned, shaking her head. They agents lay where they had fallen, both human women having bled out. Huge chunks in their necks from removing the neuros. The one's head tilted at an odd angle, the other's dead hand clamped over the killing wound.

Milen crouched, her braids spilling over her shoulder as she pulled up her screen. "I'll pull what I can. Why aren't you packing?"

Tothos crossed her arms, numb fingers digging into her skin. "This isn't their jurisdiction."

"The entire planet isn't their jurisdiction," Milen muttered. "Doesn't change facts. The agency is coming after you. You need to hide." She stood, turning to face Tothos. "We'll hide you. You've done good work for us."

"What if there's no evidence?"

Milen raised her brows. "You're standing in evidence, Dan."

Tothos shook her head, both at the moniker and the avoidance. "Scour the apartment. I know you... we can. Burn everything."

"Not that simple. These two won't've come void. Someone knows they're here."

"Then scour me."

They stared at each other. The soundproof apartment let in nothing from the outside, allowing only the sound of their breathing, blood rushing behind her ears, the garbage disposal hiccuping.

"You ready for that?" Milen asked, the soft question loud in the silence. "Can't be an Alliance citizen anymore. Ever again."

Tothos sneered. "I never wanted to be in the first place."

Milen's smile was almost sisterly. "I'll buzz a few. You still need to move. Stupid to go to all this trouble and be where they know you are."

"Course." Tothos frowned. She liked this place.

Milen elbowed her. "Ey. Two less fukin agents, huh?"

Tothos quirked her mouth. "A million more to go."
