From where she stood, Jace was a hero. His hearing and sense of smell were as enhanced as hers, he spent the last couple of centuries dealing with injured humans. Mackenzie tried to put herself in his shoes, and it seemed like hell on earth.
Much worse when she was aware he was religiously empathetic with his patients. (Then he didn’t know why Mackenzie avoided giving many details…)
Mackenzie helped sterilising tools, pretending she wasn’t there to watch Jace being professionally soothing like he probably had been for two centuries at this point. It was all weirdly relaxing, and enjoyable.
