Halloween Orange #13, Vert #29
Name: shadowsong26
Story: A Moment to Move On
'Verse: Feredar
Colors: Halloween Orange #13. Guard your eggshell heart, for the moon tells lies., Vert #29. But as for me, I will always have love/hope.
Supplies and Materials: graffiti (Lilith Faire 2024 Day Three: Village Stage), photography, postcard, seed beads, glue ("Bring your internal power under your control instead of becoming a victim of the control games played by others."), frame
Word Count: 173
Rating: PG
Characters: Nava
Warnings: Teenage heartbreak
Notes: Constructive criticism welcome, as always.
Nava had sort of known that this flirtation wasn't really real. Mama had been teaching her for a long time, and she knew that some boys would just be interested in her because she was blonde and pretty and royal and willing to flirt back--but not really interested in her.
And it's not like she was going to marry him. And she wasn't ready to take a lover.
So she told herself it didn't hurt when he started flirting with someone else, the way he had with her, just much more...more about. And she mostly believed it.
But if she'd thought for a minute that maybe it was real, and maybe cried a little after she found out it wasn't while Mama petted her hair, well.
No one else needed to know. Especially not him.
She deserved better than him, anyway. Someone smarter and better and more interested in her. She knew that.
She just needed a minute to move on and make it feel real.
