There’s Michael. There’s always Michael, her little brother, her twin soul, the only person who’s ever really cared about her. But nobody else. Not her parents, who ignore or abuse her. Not her friends, because she doesn’t have any. Not a lover, because she’s never trusted one.
She thought maybe she might find family in the Navy. Brothers in arms and all that shit. But even here, she’s an outsider, too much for anyone to handle.
