Spring Green 16, Lapis Lazuli 19: Murders
Author: Kat
Title: Murders
Story: In the Heart
Colors: Spring green 16 (we stand for the living and we stand for the dead), lapis lazuli 19 (qualm) with paint-by-numbers (Zack could not stop thinking about this.)
Supplies and Materials: Miniature, frame, graffiti (Duck Gallery), glitter (<http://www.poets.org/print/node/413421>Summer, by Robin Coste Lewis).
Word Count: 100
Rating: PG
Summary: You're supposed to want homicide.
Warnings: mentions of murder.
Notes: Zack has read too much Edgar Allen Poe. Personally I like crows and welcome our new corvid overlords.
You're supposed to want homicide. That's what all the TV shows are about, where every famous fictional detective works. Solving murders, catching killers, it's every young cop's dream, and most of the rookies in Zack's class wanted it so bad it was all they ever talked about.
Zack doesn't.
Zack works homicide cases only under pressure, and sticks to canvassing when he can. Zack doesn't like killers, doesn't like the dead. Zack dreams of crows circling in the sky, lining the rooftops, perching on benches and railings and all looking at him, dead-eyed, brooding.
Zack doesn't want homicide at all.
